As a trustee, you will use your knowledge and experience to help us thrive and continue supporting people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and other lifelong conditions to manage their condition and live their best life possible.

What will you be doing?

As a trustee you will be involved in the governance of the charity setting the strategic direction as well as supporting the centre manager. The centre celebrated its 35th year in 2019, a very exciting time to be involved in setting the direction of the charity.

We are in a steady position as we consider how we continue to meet the ongoing and emerging needs of our members. By becoming a trustee you will ensure all of this happens by attending and contributing to quarterly meetings held at the centre or by zoom.

We are particularly looking for a trustee to help us with our online presence and website support. Trustees are encouraged to take part in the life of the MS Therapy Centre, for example, by attending fundraising events.

We would ask that you visit the Centre to see for yourself the impact that our work is having on the lives of people with MS and other lifelong conditions.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking people who are committed to the values of the charity, who are dedicated to fundraising who have confidence to set and achieve high level goals. We are also seeking a mix of skills and experience to complement our current board members.

  • someone with excellent IT and website knowledge
  • an understanding of the challenges facing small uk charities in maximising income streams
  • experience in community and corporate fundraising
  • excellent networking and communication skills
  • The charity has exciting plans to expand our services and is looking for foward-thinking active board members to drive our next stage of development.
  • Trustees will work with the rest of the board and centre manager to set vision and strategy for the charity. They will provide governance oversight of the strategy ensuring the charity's resources are expended in an inclusive, efficient manner working within the chairty's aims and objectives.

What difference will you make?

We are financially steady, but we wish to maintain our sustainability so that can continue to deliver much needed therapy and support to our members with MS and other long term conditions, we have been running our therapy centre for 40 years and wish to continue for as long as we are needed.

You will help to provide strategic direction for the MS Therapy Centre and support the manager as a critical friend. Collectively the trustees determine the policies and principles that govern the charity. You will be involved in ensuring that the charity complies with charity law and complies with all other relevant legislation while delivering charitable activities for the benefit of members in accordance with our objectives.

Before you apply

The application process will initially take the form of an informal visit to the MS Therapy Centre.
