Join a creative, therapeutic community that empowers disabled dancers.

What will you be doing?

We hold weekly dance sessions at two different venues within Hampstead, where disabled children and young people will come to develop their creativity, learning and wellbeing through dance.

Volunteers are a core part of our charity as they enable our dancers to fulfil their potential despite their disabilities. Each volunteer is assigned a specific child and you will work and dance with them each week, providing 1-1 support, throughout the dance sessions.

All applicants are required to undergo a DBS check. This will be arranged by icandance.

What are we looking for?

Volunteers should be comfortable to support children and young people using dance and movement. Having experience in SEN or creative therapies is preferred, but not necessary. Overall, volunteers should show a commitment to inclusion and providing positive support to young people with disabilities and their families.

What difference will you make?

The support from our volunteers allows dancers to fully benefit from everything dance has to offer. In the sessions, dancers will develop their creativity, freedom of expression and enjoy opportunities for connection.

Dance improves physical fitness, develops gross motor skills, relieves stress and anxiety, and encourages imagination. Dance offers those with disabilities an opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings without words, and helps them to build friendships and grow in confidence.

Before you apply

Please apply through Reach first. Shortlisted volunteers will be invited to complete an icandance application form. Once this has been received you may be invited for an interview. Please contact us on Reach if you have any questions.
