Visitors from Fifth Day

Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We are a CIC focused on building a community for adults with ADHD in Merseyside. We would like to speak to an expert about developing a strategy to help us reach more people in Merseyside, as well as expanding to other cities.

What will you be doing?

We are seeking “Advice from an expert” in the form of a micro-consultancy where an expert can help us by providing advice over a series of one to three phone calls.

We will complete Reach Volunteering’s “Advice from an expert” brief and share it with the volunteer before the first call, but to briefly outline what we are after:

We’re ADHD Connect – a Community Interest Company focused on building a community for adults with ADHD in Liverpool. We strongly believe in the power of community to improve lives, and are devoted to creating a safe space where our members can meet like-minded individuals and ‘drop the mask’ without fear of judgement.

We are currently only a team of two. As we are both neurodiverse ourselves, we sometimes struggle breaking our ideas up into manageable tasks. We have clear short and long-term goals, but are looking for someone to help us implement a plan on how to reach them.

We are both co-founders of the CIC, and whilst we’re strongly aligned on our mission, vision and values, it would be helpful to have a pair of ‘outside eyes’ to help us analyse what we’re currently doing and pinpoint any areas of improvement or how we could be doing things differently.

In terms of our short-term goals, we use the platform Meetup.com to promote our events, where we have over 700 members who are predominantly based in & around Merseyside. Due to costs and limited functionality, we would like to move away from this platform and encourage people to become members with us on our own website and not through Meetup . We need assistance developing a plan on how to do this without losing our members, and how we can reach more people in Merseyside who don’t yet know about us.

We are also hoping to recruit local volunteers to act as event hosts, and would like some assistance in developing a volunteer strategy as well.

As for our long-term goals, we would eventually love to expand outside of Merseyside, and create similar communities in other UK towns and cities, with the same model of peer support and connection.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a volunteer who has experience with Strategy & Planning or Business Development. If this experience is within the context of a charity or community interest company, that would be a bonus, although it is not essential.

What difference will you make?

Your advice will mean we can reach more adults with ADHD in Merseyside who would benefit from being part of a community of like-minded neurodivergent individuals.
