The Social Research volunteer will be responsible for supporting the staff team with designing and implementing a large-scale research project.
The Social Research volunteer will be responsible for supporting the staff team with designing and implementing a large-scale research project to measure the outcomes, impact and social return on investment of the services provided by Survivors Poetry. This will involve: surveys, telephone questionnaires and focus groups; analysis of data and writing up the research paper of findings.
The volunteer will be required to help to design and carry out surveys, questionnaires and focus groups using appropriate research methodology. They will collate and analyse research data and help to prepare a report of findings.
The volunteer must possess knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative research methods with strong analytical skills and good IT skills, particularly with experience of databases. At least three years experience in social sciences is required, as is demonstrable experience of carrying out social research.
What impact the opportunity will have
Volunteers will be assigned to either the Homeless Project, the Elders Support project or Refugee project. You will be helping the project to demonstrate their impact in order to sustain services to disadvantaged and vulnerable service users

Volunteers will receive an initial induction, followed by weekly training, supervision and support from a consultant. We have a beautiful centre in the historic centre of London near the Houses of Parliament. We have an on site cafe and volunteers will receive vouchers for lunch and refreshments at the cafe. Volunteers will also receive travel expenses.
Either in or out of office hours
Minimum seven hours each week. No particular days and times - hours will be flexible.
