This New Ground is a small but dynamic arts organisation and we are looking for a volunteer to support us to maintain and develop our social media activity across all channels including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

What will you be doing?

This New Ground is an arts organisation that aims to elevate the artistic voices of learning disabled people in Hammersmith & Fulham. We aim to remove barriers and increase access for learning disabled people to lead, make and participate in the arts. Through creative engagement we transform lives and celebrate unheard voices.

It is a very exciting time to join This New Ground as we shape the future of our organisation and transition from being a not-for-profit community-led organisation to becoming a registered charity (CIO).

We are currently seeking a dedicated volunteer to support us to maintain and develop our social media activity across all channels including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

You will help with:

  • Creating engaging social media content and scheduling social media posts, liaising with staff as needed
  • Creating and sending regular email newsletters
  • Managing content calendars, inputting key social media activities and updating as necessary
  • Managing our social media community including moderating and responding to comments and messages
  • Growing our followers on social media platforms
  • Identifying key influencers and develop influencer engagement strategies
  • Reporting on social media insight data to monitor and evaluate success
  • Monitoring other organisation’s social media to identify trends
  • Making links with appropriate organisations to build new relationships within our online community
  • Keeping up to date with This New Ground events and news

This is a voluntary position, however, reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with experience of working in a social media role and/or an experienced and keen user of social media channels like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

We need people with:

  • Experience in creating engaging digital content using a range of digital tools
  • Good understanding of social media trends and audiences
  • Knowledge of social media monitoring tools, digital evaluation and analysis
  • Good communication skills including good telephone and writing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Team player
  • Ability to research and collate information from the internet

What difference will you make?

At the moment, we don't currently have a digital media strategy/plan or a dedicated staff member with responsibility for our social media development/activity. Having an experienced volunteer supporting us in this role would give us the much needed knowledge and the time to deliver our social media activity more effectively and develop how we use social media so we are making the most of the tools available to us. This role will make a significant difference to us, enabling us to be more effective in spreading the word about our great work with people with learning disabilities, promote our activities better and gain further support for the work we do.

What's in it for the volunteer?

  • Opportunity to make a real and significant difference to a small but developing arts organisation
  • Satisfaction in knowing you are supporting our valuable work, making a difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities in Hammersmith and Fulham
  • Join a friendly staff and volunteer team at This New Ground
