We are a very flexible organisation and the CEO will work with the individual in and/or outside of office hours at the availability of the individual.

Do you have communications & marketing skills? Could you inspire engagement, financial giving & committment to a great charity supporting children? If so, then we would love you to join our team at the Barnstondale Centre.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for an engaging and creative individual who has skills and experience of communicating on various media platforms. The role will work directly with the charity's CEO as we currently have no dedicated marketing or communications support but acknowledge that we should be shouting loud and proud about what our organisation does!

The role is, in essence, a start-up, so would have autonomy to deliver the following responsibilities:

  • Develop strategies and tactics to get the word out about our charity and increase bookings to our centre.
  • Produce valuable and engaging content for our new website, blog and social media platforms that attracts and engages with our target groups. 
  • Produce content that exemplifies the User Experience (UX).
  • Develop marketing material, from website banners to hard copy brochures and case studies in accordance with our new branding. 
  • Deploy successful marketing campaigns and own their implementation from ideation to execution. 

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a volunteer who has a passion and desire to help us deliver the life changing experiences we do to the thousands of children who visit our centre.

Skills and/or Experience:

  • Self-motivated and able to work using own initiative, as well as part of a team.
  • Experience with marketing, sales, or advertising.
  • Hands-on experience developing campaigns and promotions.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skill, and presentation ability.
  • A marketing degree or certification is desirable, but not essential.

What difference will you make?

Barnstondale provides a natural setting for personal development, through sport and adventure, study and reflection. We have been accommodating visitors for more than 60 years and became a registered charity in 2001. Although predominantly from the Northwest region, we also accommodate visitors nationally and as far afield as Ireland and France.

Since the formation of the charity, we have provided a safe and inclusive environment for people of all abilities to enjoy; in a normal year we support over 6000 young people. Barnstondale is for many, their first time experiencing the outdoors and their only holiday or respite of the year.

You would play an integral role in supporting the CEO to engage with our community (in person and via social media), develop engaging and exciting content, finding new customers and alerting people to the great work we do at Barnstondale Centre to support children from disadvantaged and disabled backgrounds.

This is a role that offers you real scope, challenge and reward and the chance to contribute and enhance an organisation supporting vulnerable and underprivileged children, and their families.
