Lead Bank.Green’s social media efforts to inspire climate action. Create engaging content, grow our online presence, and drive awareness of sustainable banking, helping to shift millions of dollars away from fossil fuels.

What will you be doing?

Bank.Green is seeking a Social Media Manager to amplify our mission of reducing global banks' support for fossil fuel industries through consumer action and advocacy. In this role, you will manage our social media presence, produce impactful content, and engage with our community to foster a movement towards sustainable banking practices.

As our Social Media Manager, you will:

  • Develop and implement a strategic social media plan aligned with Bank.Green’s mission and goals.
  • Curate and create engaging content for all social platforms, ensuring consistency in tone, branding, and messaging.
  • Monitor and respond to community interactions, fostering a positive and active online presence.
  • Stay up-to-date with trends, hashtags, and emerging platforms to keep our messaging fresh and relevant.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate social media campaigns into larger advocacy and outreach efforts.
  • Analyse social media performance metrics to optimise content strategy and campaign effectiveness.

You will work closely with a passionate team of volunteers, including climate researchers, designers, and other content creators, to ensure our social media presence reflects our values and drives meaningful engagement. While the role has defined responsibilities, there is flexibility for you to shape the position and bring your creative vision to the table.

This position requires a commitment of 5 hours per week. While we welcome long-term volunteers, shorter-term contributions are also an option. Your efforts will directly contribute to transforming the banking sector into a force for good in the fight against climate change.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a creative, motivated Social Media Manager with:

  • Experience: Previous experience in social media management, content creation, or a similar role.
  • Platform Expertise: Strong understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.), trends, and best practices.
  • Content Creation Skills: The ability to create engaging text, image, and video content that resonates with diverse audiences.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for storytelling.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in social media management tools and analytics platforms to measure performance and refine strategies.
  • Creativity: A proactive, innovative approach to developing campaigns and content ideas.
  • Team Collaboration: A willingness to work closely with a team of volunteers to align efforts and achieve shared goals.
  • Mission Alignment: A passion for sustainability and climate advocacy, with a strong desire to make a meaningful impact.

Familiarity with finance, banking, or environmental advocacy is a bonus but not required. Whether you are an experienced professional or someone looking to build your portfolio in a meaningful role, we encourage you to apply.

This role offers a unique opportunity to drive tangible change, enhance your skills, and connect with a global network of sustainability advocates while contributing to the fight against climate change.

What difference will you make?

As Bank.Green’s Social Media Manager, your work will directly drive awareness and action in the fight against climate change. By creating and sharing compelling content, you will help consumers understand the environmental impact of their banking choices and empower them to demand sustainable practices or switch to greener banks.

Your efforts will amplify Bank.Green’s message, inspiring our growing social media auience worldwide to take impactful action. Your creative campaigns will not only drive traffic to our bank-checking tool but also encourage tangible shifts in consumer behaviour, moving millions of dollars away from banks financing fossil fuels towards greener alternatives.

Through engaging storytelling and innovative content, you will foster a sense of community and activism among our audience. This will strengthen public demand for sustainable banking, putting pressure on financial institutions to change their policies and align with global climate goals.

Your role will be pivotal in accelerating the shift to a greener banking system, directly contributing to reducing the $6.9 trillion banks have invested in the fossil fuel industry since the Paris Agreement.
