We are looking for someone to take charge of our Social Media sites (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). To enable these sites to support and promote Heal's work with orphaned and underprivileged children in India.

What will you be doing?

This volunteer will work as part of HEALs communication team. They will be responsible for Heal's Social Media sites and using them to promote the work of HEAL, and build up its following.

They would use social media to:

  • give insight into the lives of the children of HEAL. (These are very varied comprising orphaned and underprivileged children, visually impaired, amputees. They cover a wide age range from 5 year old new entrants to young adults at University).
  •  promote the successes of HEAL, to give hope and inspiration to others.
  •  track the developments and expansion of HEAL sites
  •  promote HEAL fund raising events that take part in different parts of the world (UK, USA, Australia and India).
  • directly promote fundraising through donations or sponsorship or link to our web based donation/sponsorship mechanisms.
  •  in creative new ways eg forge links between UK (or US or Australian) schools and HEAL schools in India

All funds raised are spent on furthering the Health and Education of orphaned or underprivileged children.

The volunteer will work with others in our communications team who gather content for our Website and regular newsletters. This content will be shared across all platforms. The volunteer will determine how best to share this content with the social media sites and how best to run campaigns on the Social Media sites, in consultation with HEAL's Head of Communications.

All duties of this role will be able to be performed from the volunteers home and there would be no need for any travel. Other volunteers are spread across the country (Peterborough, London, Yorkshire, North West). There would be opportunity to meet other volunteers, normally in Peterborough, if the volunteer desired. There would also be opportunity to visit India to see at first hand the work of HEAL, again this would be at the volunteers discretion.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a creative, compassionate person with a 'can do' attitude who has good Social Media Skills. It will be vital that the person has previous experience of using Facebook and or Twitter/Instagram in a professional setting. Ideally. they should be familiar with all three.

We are looking for someone who understands what works in social media and how to build up a large following for the HEAL sites. Someone who would relish the opportunity to 'tell the HEAL story' in such a way that it would reach a wide audience and they would be able to engage with the audience.

What difference will you make?

This role could benefit HEAL greatly.

It has the potential to allow HEAL to reach a much wider audience and in particular younger people.

It should increase the funding that we are able to raise enabling us to give opportunity to more under privileged children in India.

It will promote compassion and understanding in others by giving insight into the lives of a diverse set of underprivileged children and show hope in the way that opportunity is being offered them.

It will inspire by showing how young people are willing to seize that opportunity through hard work and make for themselves good fulfilling lives.

What's in it for the volunteer?

This role gives the opportunity to work in a creative and intellectually stimulating  way. It will enable you to get to know a variety of people in the UK and India who we are sure you will enjoy working with.

It will give you the satisfaction that you did not just stand by: Instead you will know that you did something of substance and helped some people less fortunate than yourself.

This work will provide a highly visible instance that would enhance anyone's CV.
