Visitors from Fifth Day

Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

A community run project to demonstrate the benefits  of community led sustainable development.

What will you be doing?

We represent an ancient forest based community of 15 villages and settlements that encircle Brechfa Forest and Llanllwni Mountain in Cararthenshire.  Our community has been supported by Welsh Government to be an exemplar community on the benefit of supporting a community to build a strong sustainable economy linked to the attractiveness of the landscape and the culture and heritage of their community.

The projects we are undertaking this year are :-

Celebrating the cultural heritage with a photography competition,

Publishing routes for walkers,  cyclists and horse riders linking enjoying the attractive routes through the forest and over the mountains with village pubs,   village stores that sell the ingredients for a picnic,  and craft workshops.

We need help and assistance with using social media to promote these projects to walking,   MTB,  and equestrian groups and to raise the profile of the project so that we can go on to inspire other communities to follow our example.

What are we looking for?

Experience and interest in using social media. We need assistance with graphic design,   and producing effective social media posts. We also need assistance with widely sharing these posts and building up engagement.

This work does not have to be done by a single volunteer, applications from volunteers who can bring assistance and are interested in working as part of a team are welcome.

What difference will you make?

You will help demonstrate how community led plans can build a strong local economy based on the best practice of sustainable development.

You will help demonstrate how creating resources for walkers mtb'ers an horse riders /  drivers can safeguard essential businesses in rural areas. Keeping pubs and shops viable and supporting local food and craft producers.

Where possible we work with people wishing to build their skills through volunteering with the aim of enhancing their career.

Before you apply

We are a small team of volunteers,  we do not have a formal application process.   While it would be ideal if people live close enough to meet up with the committee,   we are happy to discuss opportunities through a video call.
