What will you be doing?

Becoming a Trustee is an enriching and fulfilling experience, giving you the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and support a cause you feel passionately about. 

At The Grange Centre, we have 3 vacancies on our Board and would be interested to hear from applicants with broad experience who are ideally local to Surrey and understand the area we operate in.

We would also welcome applications from people who have particular areas of expertise or knowledge of any of the following: Charities, Marketing, Social Care, Local Authorities, Grants, Property or Housing Associations.

Applicants from diverse backgrounds, including different ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds are welcomed. 

 

About The Grange Centre

The Grange Centre provides vital services supporting people with learning disabilities to lead independent and fulfilling lives. We are unique in Surrey as we offer accommodation, care support and a wide range of skills training and activities all on one beautiful 8 acre site in Bookham.  We also provide a small amount of supported living accommodation in Bookham village, Leatherhead, Fetcham and Epsom.  Our services are most suited for people with mild to moderate disabilities.

We are a regulated care provider, a charity and a housing association and we provide three services - residential care for those with higher care needs, supported living for people working towards independence and skills and activities - a wide range of training, work experience and mini businesses.

Role Profile

We believe that the most effective Boards are ones which have diverse voices around the table, including lived experiences, as diversity fosters innovation.  

New Trustees are fully supported through their induction into the organisation and will be expected to attend a minimum of four board meetings per year, an annual Away Day and subcommittee meetings. Trustees will be offered reimbursement for any expenses. 

We are looking for Trustees who have: 

- a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to their duties as a trustee 

- strategic vision 

- good, independent judgement  

- an ability to think creatively  

- a willingness to speak their mind and challenge constructively

- the ability to work effectively as a member of a team

Before you apply

Any shortlisted applicants will be invited to visit us for a tour with our CEO. Should both parties be comfortable at that stage then you will be invited to attend a panel interview with the Chair of our Board of Trustees and other members of the Board.  

We would expect this to take place in late January/February 2025
