An interesting opportunity for a fundraising professional to help scale up a digital concept to reach 1/2 million 16-24 young film & media creatives.

What will you be doing?

As a key volunteer and team member within this small organisation you will be able to work in your own time, at your own pace and at a home base to undertake research to identify potential avenues to funding and then play a part in approaching them.  This could be through a variety of income streams such as traditional trust and foundations, local authority grant givers, corporate foundations/supporters, personal philanthropists or possibly even Venture Philanthropists.  Using our extensive library of assets and case for support, you will assist to make timely applications in a rolling programme from the researched pipeline.  You will have the opportunity to work alongside another experienced volunteer fundraiser and will be given full support, advice and brand assets by the founder who, along with a team of other volunteers, has created an extra-ordinary looking learning website working with Oscar and BAFTA winning experts.  These resources are a wonderful "shop front" for the organisation and a unique selling point for any case for support. You can see a screen grab here of just SOME of the learning pathways in the UK's most critical creative export industry here http://tinyurl.com/yyes3ww3 (use the controls to zoom in for details) We have achieved the almost impossible task of creating the single largest resource in film making anywhere in Europe - and here is a snapshot summary of our story so far in numbers http://tinyurl.com/y235f6ll

We need someone who will be passionate about our work, who can spot a unique non profit project that has proven brilliance and impact and who understands how to make the case for securing growth funding. We need the funding to make all of these resources available because although countless industry experts have donated time, we need operational cash to physically make all of this available to the UK 230,000 current film and media students and young film makers aged 16-24 because unlike any other subject their teachers get zero training, zero professional support in one of the most technical subjects in schools. We have beautifully prepared numbers, evidence and materials to provide compelling ammunition for your task.

What are we looking for?

We seek someone who is a self starter with a demonstrable track record in securing income ideally for/or experience of education/academic institutions (or willingness to learn about the sector) who shares our passion for the creative industries education and who can see why a project that has attracted so much help from world class experts http://tinyurl.com/y4lmf94u now demands urgent funding to take the next step towards a scalable delivery capability.    The volunteer will hopefully have the ability to bring/open networks and seek avenues for new income streams and facilitate introductions. The ideal volunteer would have had some knowledge of/experience in securing funding in the education sector but this isn't essential.    An interest in Film, Media Studies would be a bonus!  This role may suit someone who has recently retired, who is taking a sabbatical,  or who is looking to upskill their CV for a return to the workplace in the future.

We are an entirely non profit resource, all of us are currently unpaid volunteers, and for the time being that is how you would be happy to work, but with a national launch later next year there is the potential for that to change.

What difference will you make?

As this project is entirely unfunded - we have to rely on the expert input of people like you. We desperately need funding to unlock the potential of this project and as a key team member you will be helping to make things happen and take the organisation to the next level and enable the scale up/roll out the service.  We have been lucky enough to have the support of a wide range of major brands and broadcasters in the film and television industry, including BBC News, Channel 4 News, BBC films, NBC, Universal Pictures and many others but without steady cash flow income the organisation cannot move forward and all that energy cannot be released to all those students who undoubtedly could benefit from the interaction and library of materials to help prepare them for a meaningful career in the industry.

What's in it for the volunteer?

If you like working on cutting edge, high impact, education projects that have commanded world class talent who share our belief in educating the next generation of creatives - then this is an ideal role for you. Supporting this work would be an incredible opportunity to add a high profile, and creative project to your portfolio whilst opening up the opportunity to work with some very experienced team members.

Location isn't important here as this role can be undertaken from anywhere but if you were in the Surrey area then the occasional face to face meeting with other team members is possible.

A few more details

There is an induction programme for new volunteers.
There is an expense policy to cover pre-authorised costs relevant to the role although these would probably be minimal ie postage etc.
The volunteer would need to work on their own equipment but you would be provided with an official email address.

It is our standard policy to request details of two referees to apply for written references.

Before you apply

Please let us know why this role attracts you and submit a CV. It is possible to have an informal conversation with the founder or our other fundraiser. If you have any questions at all  please just ask. No question is too trivial.
