Wave Community Bank is the largest community credit union in the southeast corner of England providing safe savings, affordable loans and financial education to a population of up to 3 million.
Role:
Oversee the regulatory, legal, and governance requirements of the community bank
Keep abreast of imminent and potential changes in the legal/regulatory compliance requirements
Give regular legal and regulatory updates, and advice to the board on how to respond to changes.
Work with the Credit & Risk subcommittee to take an active role in overseeing the risk management of the community bank
Oversee the performance, dynamics and skills of the board and make recommendations to improve this.
Work with the CEO and Governance Officer to ensure WCB maintains adequate minutes records etc and
complies with all deadlines for submitting regulatory returns
Sign legal documents on behalf of WCB

Experience of legal, regulatory compliance work at a strategic level, ideally in financial services including a good knowledge of Consumer Duty requirements
Ability to commit to attending 6 board meetings (usually hybrid – early evening) and 4 Credit & Risk subcommittee meetings per year
Access to, or willingness to access information to keep up to date with relevant changes.
Good communication skills to be able explain potentially complex issues and provide challenge to the board, where appropriate.
