We offer a range of activities to our cadets and are looking for volunteers to teach/assist running these. Whether you choose to be a uniformed instructor, or wear your own clothes, you will be helping cadets gain valuable skills and qualifications
As an Instructor you will be delivering or assisting in running lessons, activities, games, projects and events with our cadets. Whatever your experience and skills, they could be utilised to help young people flourish – boating, engineering, catering, navigation, first aid, STEM - there is no limit. Whatever your interest, you could bring it to support our cadets.
You could also share your skills out on the water with the next generation, through the opportunity to teach water sports such as kayaking, sailing, powerboating, canoeing, rowing and windsurfing. If you don’t have any water sport qualifications, we’ll provide you with all the equipment, training and the opportunity to gain national qualifications with the Royal Yachting Association for example.

Many variations of skills and knowledge areas can be useful to our unit, but the right attitude and a passion for improving the lives of young people a must. Boating or military experience is helpful but not essential as our programme of activities is varied. If you think you are a match to the skills and knowledge and you could make a difference, please get in touch.
You will play a key role in making a positive difference to young people aged 10-18 who are often struggling in today’s world and their communities. Through fun activities the cadets progress through The Cadet Experience, gaining valuable skills, qualifications and confidence as they go.
Sea Cadets understand the responsibilities people have outside volunteering. So, we offer a flexible approach, recognising that everyone has skills to offer and that volunteering needs to fit around peoples' busy lives - so if a desire to support local young people is there, please contact us and we will arrange for a unit visit.
All instructors will be required to undertake mandatory induction training, DBS (paid for by the Sea Cadets) and courses to support your own personal development within your role.
