Do you know anybody in the community, who would be keen to help us continue to improve the school’s performance and make a difference to the future of our children?

What will you be doing?

The governing body’s main tasks are to:

* Ensure that the school has a clear vision, ethos, and strategic direction;

* Hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils;

* Oversee the financial performance of the school and making sure it’s money is well spent

We are particularly interested in applications from people with Board level or senior management experience and ideally with backgrounds in finance, health and safety, Human Resources or educational experience, although there is not a condition of the role and all applications are equal.

If you would like to discuss any aspects of the role before submitting your application please leave your contact details with the school office and we will be happy to call you for an informal chat.

Additionally you might also look at the information for prospective governors on the Hampshire County Council website at www.hants.gov.uk/education/governors/governorsgovrecruit.htm

You will find video, e-learning and written information on the site and all of these will provide you with further details about the role.

What are we looking for?

We are particularly interested in applications from people with Human Resources, personnel, finance or education experience, although there is not a condition of the role and all applications are equal

What difference will you make?

Governors are responsible for overseeing the management side of a school; strategy, policy, budgeting and staffing. They enable their school to run as effectively as possible, working alongside senior leaders and supporting teachers to provide excellent education to children.

What's in it for the volunteer?

Being a governor allows you to gain a variety of new skills, and develop the ones you already have. It doesn’t matter if you don’t think your career experience- or lack of it - is relevant to education; governing bodies need people from all backgrounds who can bring their professional knowledge to the school.

Before you apply

Please note that for the protection of children all governors will be subject to identity checks
