To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We’re seeking a dedicated School Governor to join our board and make a meaningful impact on our mission to transform educational outcomes for young people who struggle in mainstream education.

What will you be doing?

As our new trustee, you’ll act as a sounding board and key support for our Head Teacher and staff, helping to navigate challenges and drive strategic improvements. Your experience in Senior Leadership (SLT) will be essential to strengthening our governance, supporting accountability, and ensuring we stay on track to meet our ambitious goals.

Our organization is committed to improving our Ofsted rating, currently requiring improvement, and meeting independent school standards to provide a high-quality education environment.

We aim to enhance staff training, achieve a "Good" rating, and expand with two additional sites.

Key Qualities & Attributes

  • Proven experience in Senior Leadership (SLT)
  • Strategic vision and the ability to provide balanced, constructive feedback
  • Commitment to the school’s values and mission

What are we looking for?

Skills and Experience Required

We are an Alternative Provision (AP) school with a strong Christian ethos, and we are looking for a trustee who can bring valuable expertise to our board. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in Senior Leadership (SLT): A proven track record in strategic leadership, ideally in education, with a focus on driving performance improvements and supporting staff development.
  • Understanding of AP settings: Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities faced by Alternative Provision schools, with a strong commitment to meeting the diverse needs of our students.
  • Commitment to Christian Values: A passion for our Christian ethos and the ability to support and promote these values within the school’s operations and culture.
  • Strong Governance Experience: The ability to provide constructive challenge, act as a sounding board, and work collaboratively with the Head Teacher and senior staff to achieve the school’s goals.
  • Focus on Improvement and Growth: Experience in helping organizations reach higher standards, whether in education or another field, with a goal of achieving a "Good" Ofsted rating and expanding the provision to two more sites.

Your skills and experience will be crucial in helping us navigate challenges, provide a nurturing environment for our students, and work toward long-term success in both educational and operational outcomes.

What difference will you make?

By joining our board, you will play a crucial role in helping us meet independent school standards, improve our Ofsted rating, and ultimately expand our reach. Your insights will support our staff, improve educational outcomes for students, and help us grow into a multi-site educational provider that makes a lasting difference in our community.

If you’re passionate about fostering educational success and have the leadership expertise to help guide us, we’d love to hear from you.
