Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We need an experienced developer to help tailor Salesforce Education. This will increase the number of people we can provide support to as it will improve administration and reporting processes, and free up staff time and resources.

What will you be doing?

TL;DR: We have got too big for Excel and data management is becoming overwhelming - we need help moving to Salesforce.

COMPOS is an outreach programme providing out of school support to STEM-talented students. We work with hundreds of students, dozens of tutors, and maintain records of students attainment and attendance throughout the programme. We are required to report to funders and evaluate the impact of the programme on attainment at GCSE and A Level exams as well as progression to higher education.

Our tutors work as casual contract staff and we maintain records of all their worked hours, invoices and background checks so data is sensitive and must be managed according to UK legislation and University policies.

We have expanded beyond the capabilities of Excel and need to move to a database/CRM to hold all our data from the application stage of the programme through to long-term tracking of our "graduates" into higher education. We can purchase Salesforce Education Cloud licences but need help setting up the product with tailored flows for administrative tasks.

We are looking for someone to work remotely over July-September 2024 to assist with set up before the next academic year begins.

What are we looking for?

You should have experience working with implementing and developing Salesforce Cloud but are not required to have worked with the new Education Cloud product. You should have worked with partners to implement Salesforce and know how to tailor the product for specific administrative needs within an organisation.

You should be able to manage your own time effectively and have project management skills. Familiarity with the Agile development method is an advantage. You need to work closely with the two academic coordinators to ensure the final implementation is fit for purpose.

You should be flexible and be able to adapt to find solutions which fit our requirements, adopting a problem-solving approach to find suitable solutions. We are friendly and fairly tech-savvy people, but understaffed and stretched in terms of our time, so you should be efficient and communicate clearly and promptly.

This is not a position for a novice, we are looking for someone experienced who has worked on similar implementation projects and can take charge of the set-up to ensure it works as a functioning CRM for us for the various purposes we need it: admissions, programme monitoring, communications, employee invoicing and HR, reporting and evaluation.

What difference will you make?

You will ensure our service delivery to all our students and tutors is much improved, and free up our staff to concentrate on the quality of the service. This will increase our impact and the numbers of students we can support. This is a vital piece of work which will secure our ability to expand over the medium-long term.
