We are looking for a Remuneration specialist to become an independent member of the Remuneration Committee of a large group of colleges in South West London,  to add a level of independence to decisions about senior pay.

What will you be doing?

The Remuneration Committee normally meets twice a year and its brief is to consider and advise the College Governing Body on the remuneration, appraisal, and other terms and conditions of the College's Senior Postholders.

The person being appointed should have experience of decision-making in a similar organisation which involves having consideration as to how the level of remuneration of the  senior staff is:

•in the interests of  the college’s students

•a good use of resources

•proportionate and reasonable

•good value for money

Further information on the role including the time commitment , meeting dates and application process is available from Helen Meredith,  Head of Governance, South Thames Colleges Group .  In the first instance please reply through the Reach platform.

What are we looking for?

  • Previous experience of decision-making in relation to senior pay- essential
  • Ideally experience of recruitment and appraisals at a senior level
  • Ideally experience of applying HM Treasury senior pay controls or similar value for money guidelines

What difference will you make?

There is a high risk to the reputation of the college both externally and internally in terms of industrial relations with its own staff where executive pay appears to be high and unjustified.

A suitably experienced individual will be able to make a difference by guiding the Board in making politically sensitive and important decisions about the remuneration and conditions of service for its senior leaders so as to provide value for money and the best leadership possible for the community of learners served by the college group.
