Time

Either in or out of office hours Estimate of time needed:
1-3 hours / week Average of 2-3 hours per week plus 2 hours a month to attend Management Team meeting. Flexible hours but must be available in the daytime sometimes.

You will play an instrumental part in making sure the group secures a steady stream of referrals of adults who want to work with a Volunteer Coach to learn to read.

What will you be doing?

Be a member of the Read Easy Leicester & District group
Create and maintain a record of organisations and agencies who are likely to come into contact with those who don’t read
Contact these organisations regularly to provide information about what your group offers and identify how they can best inform their personnel to make referrals.
Keep your local group informed about your activity and identify how many of your contacts refer new Readers. Find out what further efforts may be necessary.
Make use of the resources available on the Read Easy UK site

You will get support from the Team Leader, the Regional Adviser and Read Easy UK. You will work closely with the Coordinators and Team Leader.

What are we looking for?

Experience of networking and the confidence to contact local organisations.
Confidence to promote the work of Read Easy and how it can support local people who would like to improve their reading skills.
Good communication and people skills.
Ability to develop strong working relationships with local referral agencies and manage expectations.

What difference will you make?

For adults with little or no reading skills, your input will create a pathway to 1:1 confidential help with reading Learning to read as an adult often transforms their lives.
