Time

Variable but usually c.6 hours per week, with a monthly meeting of c.2-3 hours. Attendance at local fairs and events is expected c. every 3 months.

This role involves finding new volunteer coaches and team members.  Joining an enthusiastic and committed management team of 8, your innovative ideas for finding volunteer reading coaches in Haringey will be put to good use! 

What will you be doing?

  1. Finding new volunteer coaches and team members within the borough of Haringey
  2. Processing volunteer applications, including talking to and encouraging potential applicants
  3. Interviewing volunteers (online, helped by the lead Cordinator)
  4. Requesting references, collating equality forms
  5. Attending a monthly management meeting to report on progress and collaborate with other team members

What are we looking for?

  1. Solid experience in all aspects of recruitment activities including interviewing.
  2. The ability to prioritise own work, and someone who takes a pride in dealing with administrative duties speedily with attention to detail - as the first point of contact, you represent our organisation.
  3. Openness to new recruitment ideas which can be translated into action, and the willingness to collaborate with other team members.
  4. A supportive and encouraging approach to potential volunteers.

What difference will you make?

This role is critical to our success:  without volunteers, we regularly have to put a hold on taking on more Readers.   We always have a waiting list, particularly in Tottenham, so your ability to reach out and find alternative sources of people is important to us.   The administrative side is important, too, because we need to enthuse and grab potential applicants as soon as possible....
