Read Easy provides free, one to-one reading coaching for adults who struggle with reading.  As a Coach, you change the lives of individual adults by providing them with the support they need to learn to read.

What will you be doing?

You will meet your Reader for two separate half hour sessions each week face to face in an approved venue (likely to be a library or community centre) to deliver the phonics-based Turning Pages programme,  with guidance for coaches on every page and other approved resources.   You will be provided with excellent training right from the start.  We are particularly keen to recruit Coaches who are willing to travel to Tottenham, as this is where most of our need currently exists.

What are we looking for?

3 years experience in a related field e.g. working with vulnerable people, teaching and/or support roles.

Confident reading skills.

The ability to demonstrate empathy and understanding whilst maintaining boundaries, being patient, positive, and encouraging.

A non-judgemental attitude and a positive respect for others, regardless of abilities, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation or age.

The ability to work alone, seeking support when necessary.

What difference will you make?

Our Coaches are the ones who make the difference - it's so exciting to see the increased confidence of our Readers within weeks of starting work.   In the two years of Read Easy Haringey commencing work in the Borough, we've rarely lost a Coach, as they're so committed to helping their Readers to succeed....they genuinely change people's lives and help to open doors to all sorts of new opportunities in life.
