Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We know our degus from our gerbils but know nothing about all things digital!  Can you help us with our online presence?

What will you be doing?

We are great at caring for the animals that need our help, but totally lost when it comes to the overall promotion of the charity and increasing and optimising our online presence.  Especially when it comes to promoting the animals we have looking for new homes, online donation platforms, increasing online donations, and making the most out of social media.  The vast majority of our time is taken up with the animals at the rescue and ensuring they are getting the care they need and therefore we have neglected this vitally important part of making the charity successful and very lost when it comes to knowing what we need to be doing.  Rabbits and rodents don't engender the same levels of passion when compared to dogs and cats and as a result we are already fighting an uphill battle, despite an estimated 67,000 rabbits passing through rescues every year.  So there is a great deal of challenges involved in this role and helping to promote the message that their lives matter just as much as bigger companion animals.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate individual who is excited to take control of this aspect of the charity and tackle these issues on a long term basis. There is also the opportunity to become a trustee for the right applicant, if this is something of interest.   The role can be carried out remotely and over evenings and weekends.  If you think you are able to help a very small but very dedicated charity and become an integral member of our small friendly team we would love to hear from you.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an individual with the knowledge and experience we lack to promote and manage our charity in all things online.  We have very limited knowledge or experience when it comes to this role and we are looking for someone who is motivated and able to make this role their own.  It would be great if you have the same passion for rabbits and rodents as we do but not essential.  It would also be of an advantage to us if you have had previous experience working with animal rescue charities.

What difference will you make?

As already stated, we are great at looking after the animals and this is where the bulk of our time is dedicated. But to make the rescue a real success we urgently need further help.  Over the past few years we have hit a brick wall and with very little free time and virtually no experience in this area, we are unable to grow the charity and do what is most important to us - saving the lives of unwanted, neglected and abandoned rabbits and rodents. We are passionate about what we do, but are now realising our limitations when it comes to running a successful charity, especially in relation to the time available to us outside of caring for the animals.  Having a dedicated volunteer to take on this role will be of a huge benefit to not only the animals in our care, present and future. But also help to relieve some pressure from an already struggling team.
