Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We are a new charity with a wealth of publishable material that presents our uniquely positive and empowering conception of autism and how to optimise the life prospects of young autistic children.

What will you be doing?

We already have one book - Transforming Autism - and would like to collect some of the other published material we have into a second book.

This consists largely of articles we have published over the past couple of years, but potentially also some transcripts of interviews or excepts from them given by our founder.

This role will involve:

  • Collating the material to be included into the book (which will include reviewing a number of interviews and shortlisting some parts of them that would be optimally included)
  • Proof-reading and suggesting minor edits to the material to make it suitable for a book format.
  • Recommending a route to publication (e.g. publishing or self-publishing, suggesting a platform, etc)
  • Laying out the book for publication
  • Seeing through the process of publication
  • Identifying and potentially assuming responsibility for post-publication activities

What are we looking for?

  • Publishing/Self-Publishing – how to prepare a book for publication and see it through the process.
  • Proof Reading, Transcribing and Editing
  • Be able to identify any expertise that is missing and work with our recruiters to find new volunteers to provide it
  • Ideally (but not essential) – post-publication marketing and publicity

What difference will you make?
