The Samaritans provides support to people 24/7 who are suicidal, struggling to cope, or need someone to listen without judgement. The Bognor Regis/Chichester Branch needs support to create and drive forward a publicity and social media strategy.

What will you be doing?

We are seeking a volunteer to lead, plan and manage our publicity and social media strategy and campaigns. Working with the Branch Director and The Leadership Team, you will be a proactive person who can support us in raising our profile with the aim of encouraging those who may need our services to contact us, promoting our fundraising activities and attracting new volunteers. A more detailed role profile is attached.

The role can be carried out from home for much of the time, as long as you have access to a computer and telephone, although there will be a need to participate in meetings within the Branch in central Bognor Regis at least monthly, as well as at off-site events and activities, from time to time.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who would like to put their skills to good use for the benefit of the local community, with an estimated time commitment of around five hours per week. You will be working alongside a great bunch of volunteers that would love you to join them. Like to find out more? Then please get in touch to arrange an informal chat.

What are we looking for?

Experience of using communication tools, including social media, to help to raise the profile of an organisation. Experience of managing a website is also desirable.

Our branch is led and managed wholly by volunteers, so independent thinking and self motivation are a prerequisite, along with the ability to engage and enthuse others and work collaboratively as part of a team.

What difference will you make?

Your input and expertise will enable us to raise our profile to both support us in increasing our volunteer base by c25% and maximising our fundraising opportunities to ensure our long term sustainability. (As a Branch we are responsible for raising sufficient funding to cover our annual operating costs of c£24,000 per annum)
