The Peak & Northern Footpaths Society is dedicated to preserving and improving the public's right of access across the countryside. We are seeking a Publicity Officer to raise our public profile and celebrate our achievements.

What will you be doing?

The Publicity Officer will lead on devising a holistic engagement strategy for the Society to include both public and press relations through diverse channels. Additionally, you will:

  • Help to develop and execute a social media campaign to raise awareness of our work and to advertise our volunteer opportunities
  • Provide guidance on how we can manage our social media on an ongoing basis
  • Produce fresh and engaging content for our social media channels and engage with followers
  • Prepare press releases to local news media sharing the work of the society
  • Attend events to promote the Society's work
  • Partner with affiliated groups and other organisations on shared interests

To achieve the above objectives, you will be supported by and lead a small group of current and future volunteers within the Society.

You will be required to prepare reports for board meetings to share the impact of your work and to align with strategic priorities. Occasional attendance (in-person or via Zoom) may be requested. 

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have experience in social media marketing, public relations, and/or engagement strategy.

You will have a deep understanding of social media and engaging diverse audiences. You will have a strong command of English and will be able to articulately and effectively communicate in written form. Experience working with local press or in event planning is a plus.

Your support will help us to raise the profile of the Society and increase membership, enabling us to widen our impact and expand our horizons.
