Southampton Sea Cadets is seeking a Public Relations Manager/Trustee!

What will you be doing?

As our Public Relations Manager, you'll play a crucial role in enhancing Southampton Sea Cadets' visibility and reputation.

Your experience will help us manage media relations and promote our programs and achievements to a broader audience.

You'll help to contribute to our goals of growth and offering the Sea Cadets Experience to even more young people, while fostering good relationships with cadets, parents/guardians and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic public relations and communications plan
  • Act as the main point of contact for media inquiries and manage relationships with journalists and press outlets
  • Create engaging content for press releases, social media, and success stories to increase public awareness
  • Advise the Unit Management Team on effective communication strategies and brand management
  • Monitor media coverage and evaluate the effectiveness of PR campaigns
  • Work with trustees and volunteers to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in public relations, communications or a related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to craft engaging and impactful stories that resonate with diverse audiences
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and digital communication strategies
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Passionate about developing young people with skills to set them up for life
