Ignite Hubs is a new charitable organisation that is run and led by volunteers. We are looking to pioneer innovative and exciting ways for children and young people to learn.

What will you be doing?

Our vision is to nurture and enrich young minds to explore, grow and learn. We seek to equip each child or young person with the tools and skills to be successful in school and life.

We aim to:

  • Create the best learning environment for children and young people from all backgrounds and abilities, particularly:
    • Girls
    • Children and young people that have special educational needs and disabilities
    • Children and young people from disadvantaged or vulnerable backgrounds
  • To support, develop and empower young people into work.
  • Value, support and develop our volunteers and help them realise their potential and aspirations.
  • Build a better community and bring people together.

We plan to offer classes, workshops and events for children and young people on a wide variety of subjects via our five Hubs; Code, STEM, Enterprise, Innovation & Creativity and Health & Wellbeing. 

We hope you will join our mission to create innovative and engaging Hubs and help us roll them out across the country.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for experienced Product Designers to help us design and create high quality and engaging products for our:

  • STEM-in-a-Box range
  • Educational-related products
  • Ignite Hubs merchandise and clothing
  • Products that could accompany our Career Books series

We have funding in place for product development and to bring them to market. Products will be available free of charge to families on benefits and selected schools and then sold via our website with all profits going towards funding our charitable aims.

The ideal person will be:

  • Passionate about helping children and young people learn and develop.
  • Proactive, creative and reliable.
  • Great understanding of different materials and production methods.
  • Strong understanding of how to design innovative products.
  • Interested in the way children choose and use products.

The role is flexible and the time commitment expected is around 4 hours a week. Please only apply if have regular time available and are looking to be part of an organisation for the long-term.

You will be joining a fast-growing organisation of over 80 volunteers from a variety of backgrounds and skill sets. There are lots of opportunities for you to shape and grow your role and gain skills in other areas.
