Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

The Premises Booking Secretary is a volunteer who helps with the management of our building by taking bookings for the various groups who use the building, and ensuring the building is available.

What will you be doing?

Our Scout hall is used by many other community groups, who all pay for the use.  This helps to offset some of the management costs for the building.  The Bookings Secretary helps to manage the diary of bookings and to arrange visits by contractors, e.g. for repairs and maintenance.  Ideally,  you would live locally and be able to visit the Scout Hall to help with access by groups, contractors and others.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with experience of organising rotas, timetable or diaries to ensure the best use of resources and to avoid problems with double-booking.   Some experience of organising a team, appointment or room bookings will be very helpful.  You will need to be comfortable speaking on the 'phone, or emailing with contacts from various community and other groups that use the hall.  You will also need to be happy to talk with maintenance contractors and to arrange access for them.

What difference will you make?

The Scouts Group provides fun, adventure and skills for life and gives young people the opportunity to enjoy new adventures, experience outdoors and take part in creative, community and international activities.  We help young people to interact with others, make new friends, gain confidence and to reach their full potential.  Being a Scout is about discovering the world on your own terms and making the most of what you have, wherever and whoever you are.

In your role, you will help to ensure the effective and safe use of the building, so that we can provide Scouts and others with good facilities.  You will help us to maximise income from rental of the hall, which in turn helps us to minimise the contribution we ask from parents and to maximise the opportunities we provide for children and young people.

Before you apply

Please contact us via Reach to express and interest. Please include a 'phone number where we can reach you, and any times you would prefer to talk. We will get in touch and answer any questions you may have.
