Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

As one of the UK’s leading voices on the link between nutrition, the brain and behaviour, we are seeking an experienced PR volunteer to support us in raising the profile of our work to beneficiaries, funders, supporters and partners.

What will you be doing?

The Institute for Food, Brain and Behaviour, known as Think Through Nutrition, has been at the forefront of nutritional advocacy for more than 40 years. Our charity aims to significantly improve mental health and wellbeing by spearheading critical research into the link between nutrition and behaviour, and we translate our findings into practical solutions, benefiting individuals and communities by enhancing their understanding of how dietary habits impact mental health. Primarily supporting offenders, children and families within the social care system, and other disadvantaged or hard-to-reach groups, our research has then allowed us to develop and deliver comprehensive nutritional education programmes, which in turn acts as a catalyst for raising public awareness, shaping policy and improving life chances.

What are we looking for?

Skills, experience and qualities

  • At least three years experience in PR, ideally within the health and wellbeing, or not for profit sectors
  • A demonstrable interest in improving life chances for our core beneficiary groups
  • Creativity, and a flair for new ideas
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team

What difference will you make?

We have ambitious plans for the growth of our charity and the PR volunteer will play a fundamental role in helping us to realise those plans by supporting us to raise the profile of what we do across all stakeholders.

Example activities include:

  • identifying relevant journalists and undertaking initial outreach
  • Helping us to develop a launch plan for our digital education platform, LANAH, and our 40th anniversary
  • Mental health
