Are you a healthcare professional who wants to make a difference to patient safety? If so, the charity Patient Safety Learning are looking for volunteers to give a minimum of 4 hours a month to work alongside the hub content team.

What will you be doing?

the hub is our award-winning online platform for patient safety, offering a powerful combination of tools, resources, stories, ideas, case studies and good practice to anyone who wants to make care safer for patients.

What you could be doing:

  • Researching and sourcing relevant patient safety content.
  • Uploading content to the hub, ensuring it follows our editorial guidelines.
  • Uploading content and engaging those with an interest in patient safety through our Instagram account.
  • Identifying trends and gaps in our content.

In return we will provide you with:

  • Experience of working on an award-winning website.
  • Ongoing support and training in moderating and uploading web content.
  • Regular catch ups and keeping in touch webinars.
  • The potential to learn new skills and broaden the scope of your involvement.
  • The opportunity to help to shape the current discourse around patient safety in the UK.
  • The opportunity to work with a small friendly team passionate about patient safety.

What are we looking for?

This role would suit someone who is currently working or looking to work in the patient safety area. You don’t necessarily need a clinical background, although if you have then that’s great. 3 years plus experience working in the NHS. Good communication, research, analytic and writing skills. A broad knowledge of patient safety issues.

What difference will you make?

"I enjoy volunteering for the hub because it allows me to explore different interesting healthcare issues through writing original blogs, as well as uploading existing content to the website. I’ve learnt so much through my reading and research of topics as diverse as maternal care to men’s health to needlestick injuries. I’ve always had an interest in healthcare and public engagement, and it feels important to me to contribute to an organisation that is passionate about patient care and safety, after being a patient myself for many years. I'd recommend volunteering with the hub to anyone who has some free time to do something that is interesting, rewarding and worthwhile." Becky, hub volunteer
