IAD is looking for a Partnerships and Engagement Officer to work closely with IAD’s Executive Director and Board to manage IAD’s external engagement with partners and relevant stakeholders.

Job Details

The International Association for Democracy (IAD) is an NGO that works to defend and advance democracy around the globe. We link people with their governments and lobby governments to promote, strengthen and safeguard democratic institutions, processes, norms and values at home and abroad. We also work towards raising public awareness about the current state of democracy around the world and what should be done to better defend and promote democracy. This role is expected to take 3-5 hours per week.

Objectives of this Role

  • Proactively research and identify potential partners and engagement opportunities for IAD
  • Secure and manage engagement opportunities for IAD, such as participation in international fora on democracy (e.g., the World Forum for Democracy)
  • Build and sustain partnerships with other organisations and relevant stakeholders in IAD’s area of work
  • Manage projects co-organised together with external partners

What are we looking for?

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of partnership management and external engagement in an NGO
  • Good level of communication skills with both professionals and the public through a range of media
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues from different agencies/organisations
  • Good organisational skills, particularly in relation to events and activities
  • Good understanding of the fields of democracy and international politics as well as the stakeholders involved (e.g., International Organisations, relevant NGOs and foundations, etc.)
  • Passion for promoting democracy, rule of law and human rights

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven professional experience in partnerships and external engagement in an NGO.
