The John Rae Society is looking for adventurous new Trustees to help lead our exciting Hall of Clestrain development projects.
The John Rae Society's mission is to educate people about the pioneering Arctic explorer Dr John Rae's remarkable life and achievements, and to celebrate Orkney’s rich heritage. We aim to transform his childhood home into a world-renowned visitor attraction and community resource, sharing John Rae’s remarkable place in the history of Orkney and Artic exploration, and promoting adventure, active health and wellbeing.
We currently have 6 Trustees and are seeking up to 6 more. We want passionate individuals dedicated to public education and heritage preservation, proactive and engaged in Board discussions. The commitment is up to 1 day per month, including Board meetings and an annual strategy away day in Orkney.
We are looking for people with the following skills:
We're looking for people with skills in charity governance, finance, fundraising, volunteer management & support, historic buildings conservation and construction project management. We are mainly looking for volunteers based in Orkney.
As part of our Board you will support and shape our work and strategic direction, as well as help us achieve our mission through an exciting programme of phased projects.
