Ideally the Chair will have previous experience in a similar role, have an interest in the Order of St John and our heritage as well as being committed to supporting the very important work of St John Ambulance. Previous Experience of the work of St John is not essential but would be an advantage.
The Chair will need to be administratively self-servicing and have at least basic computer skills with access to a computer.
Effective high profile networking skills and knowledge of the County are essential as are strong but inclusive and sensitive leadership skills and a consultative style of working
We aim to widen the diversity of CPG membership and especially welcome applications from women, young people, those from minority ethnic backgrounds, people who are LGBT and those with a disability who meet the person specification requirements.
What impact the opportunity will have
CPG Chairs are pivotal in ensuring that the work of the Order of St John and its 900 year history of helping people in need is promoted and celebrated in all 42 English Counties.
The role of CPG Chair provides a unique opportunity to
• ensure that exceptional people who have gone beyond the call of duty are recognised by Investiture into the Order of St John on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen
• publicly recognise and honour the amazing gift of life given to others through organ donation
• support St John Ambulance’s vision that “everyone who needs it should receive first aid from those around them. No one should suffer for the lack of trained first aiders”
• contribute to the health and wellbeing of the local community
What’s in it for the volunteer?
This is a unique opportunity to be part of an international organisation with a history that dates back over 900 years but still has a contemporary role today. Senior volunteers in this high-profile role can use their professional skills and expertise to really make a difference to people’s lives not only locally but also nationally. This role offers a wide range of opportunities to both develop skills and acquire a new skill set.
