Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

We are seeking a dedicated Trustee to join our Board, a charity focused on providing safe, supervised child contact services for children and parents affected by separation and divorce.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for people with professional experience who can bring energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the role on our Charity's Board.

Previous governance experience is not required; however, we are seeking candidates who bring at least three years of professional experience in areas such as governance, project management, marketing, public relations, or service design.

Duties:

  •  Support and provide advice on Prime Time’s purpose, vision, goals, and activities.
  •  Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
  • Oversee Prime Time’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
  • Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored, and controlled effectively.
  • Review and approve Prime Time’s financial statements.
  • Provide support and challenge to Prime Time’s CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.
  •  Contribute to regular reviews of Prime Time’s own governance. Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.• Contribute to the broader promotion of Prime Time’s objectives, aims, and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge, and contacts, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third-party interests.

  • Willingness and ability to understand and accept the responsibilities and liabilities of being a trustee, and to act in the best interests of the organisation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage in discussions and contribute meaningfully to decision-making.
  • Enthusiasm for the charity's vision and mission, and a strong drive to support its goals and values.
  • Willingness to lead according to our values and uphold Nolan’s Seven Principles of Public Life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.
  • An occupational requirement exists for the post-holder to be a practicing Christian, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

There will be times when the trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Board meetings, providing advice and guidance in which the trustee has special expertise.

This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Terms of appointment

Terms of office

  • Trustees are appointed for an initial one-year term of office. Renewal may occur for two further terms to a maximum of three years.

Time commitment

  • Attending four to six board meetings annually. Currently meetings alternate between remote and in person (generally within easy reach of SE15)
  • Attending strategy / training days as and when required and able to do so

Committee membership

Ad hoc and occasional support through working groups and / or support to the executive team.

As a Trustee, you will provide strategic direction and governance to help our charity achieve its vision. Your skills and expertise will support our leadership team and drive forward our mission of promoting well-being and reconciliation for children and families.  We will provide a comprehensive induction and ongoing training to help you succeed in the role.
