To take the CIC forward and achieve long term sustainable growth. We are passionate about making a difference to people’s lives through supporting high quality education and community services?

What will you be doing?

Our Board has overall oversight of the business; it comprises the CEO, the COO and NED’s.  There are also bi-annual meetings with all the team members.

There are two Directors. One is one of the founder’s son who is also a NED, the other, also a founder, the CEO.

The Board make decisions about its future direction, strategy the business will implement, statutory compliance and maintenance of DS core values and purpose.

Our NEDs are full participants on the Board providing support, ideas and constructive challenge to our team to test our thinking and help the business to achieve the best it can for our service users and demonstrate the difference that we make. They also help with connections and introductions within their networks.

DS was established in 2012 to provide business support for schools and the community sector. It’s aim was, and remains, to ensure educational establishments, community organisations and charities could trust that non-teaching services were being managed professionally and affordably, always adding value, with a team working in partnership as a virtual part of the establishment. As our team of experts has grown and developed, so has the extent of the help we are able to provide and the demand for our range of services.

We are a not for profit organisation providing bespoke support in the increasingly challenging world of education and the voluntary/charitable sectors. This has meant working in partnership to help education establishments and our range of other customers such as youth organisations, churches and others.

We currently have 3 non-executive Directors but we are looking for 2 or 3 additional people to bring diversity of thinking and expand our networks. We also hope to include student advisors from our link with the University of Bristol.

What are we looking for?

We are currently looking for new NEDs that also have skills or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Setting up, marketing  and/or selling new services
  • Experience of needs of the community sector and other not-for-profit organisations
  • Support the development of our website and IT presence for our customers
  • Advising on how to devise and implement IT strategy as we want to better utilise technology to drive productivity and reduce costs
  • Managing a tight budget and planning finances because we want to be more financially resilient.
  • Developing and leading a programme of change in how staff work and engage in the business.

What difference will you make?

The organisation is about to undergo a transition and will be relying on its Board for support and guidance to ensure that our success continues.
