Help us engage our audiences by improving our email newsletter format or create engaging newsletter content so that we can get more local people involved in climate action.

What will you be doing?

Our charity supports lots of smaller eco groups in our town as well as running our own projects. We are looking for an experienced email marketing expert to work with us as we try to engage local residents in climate action.

We would like the volunteer to help with:

  • Email newsletter content: Write content that is short, relevant and has clear a call-to-action and high click through rates. But also gets people to turn up to events and share with us what the action they have been taking.
  • We currently use Mailchimp but we think we could use this in much better way. We need guidance here.
  • Email strategy: Help us plan and articulate to both members and newsletter readers how we can use emails and newsletters to strengthen our identity, motivate our supporters and communicate with our members.
  • Other…

You will be working with a small core group who will provide an overview of our existing communication and marketing materials, as well as our very basic brand guidelines (which we are hapy to change)

We're a small charity so if you are good at working independently, being able to guide us on all the things above it would free up our time to work on the things we are good at.

What are we looking for?

  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Experience using Mailchimp
  • Experience setting up templates in line with existing brand
  • Ability to quickly understand the needs of our group / members / supporters
  • Can ask key questions to enable us to clarify requirements
  • Understands the resource constraints of a small charity and is able to work with these.
  • Open to feedback

What difference will you make?

We know that communication is key and someone reading our newsletter could be a first step in them taking action on climate change either in their personal life or in the community.
