Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

Do you have a keen eye for detail and an organised approach? Can you work with other members of the Management Committee to ensure all regular events are communicated to KENRIC members every month?

What will you be doing?

The Role:

  • Attending and participating in monthly Kenric Management Committee meetings, and helping us communicate our work, policies, and events to our members
  • Contributing to special sub-group projects and initiatives as an integral part of the Management Committee
  • Collating, editing, and proof-reading content for our monthly Newsletter in collaboration with other Management Committee members and devising additional content when required and space permits
  • Adhering to monthly deadlines to meet the publication deadline, and working with other Management Committee members to ensure all relevant information is received by the internal deadline
  • Checking all details of events to ensure listings and any external hyperlinks are accurate
  • Working with other Management Committee members to ensure all important ad hoc communications to members are well-planned, e.g. are included in the publishing pipeline with sufficient notice, and meet good design objectives, space constraints, and readability requirements
  • Working with our design partner to ensure the Newsletter is accurate and looks professional every month including adherence to KENRIC’s house style guide, as amended from time to time
  • Maintaining the Newsletter folders on Dropbox/SYNC and ensuring that an archive of Newsletter materials is retained
  • Sourcing logos from the IT Officer for new events, and working with our design partner or Management Committee members to produce any additional graphics required
  • Distributing electronic copies of the Newsletter to all KENRIC members every month, and working with Membership to ensure all valid Members receive the Newsletter
  • Distributing printed accessibility versions of our Newsletter by post, for those who require these
  • Working with our Chair and Information Officer to ensure that essential information is communicated to Membership in line with our Constitution and Policies

What are we looking for?

  • Computer skills required include familiarity with online storage databases e.g. Dropbox and SYNC, ability to use Zoom for Management Committee meetings, Microsoft Word for Windows or Mac, Adobe PDF (basic), inserting logos/graphics into a Word document, and basic formatting skills. Additional design skills or editorial experience would be the icing on the cake!
  • Well-organised with good communications and diary management skills, proof-reading experience, and a keen eye for detail
  • Good team player able to contribute to our Management Committee’s discussions and decision-making and help to drive our wider organisational agenda.

What difference will you make?

We produce a well-established and popular monthly Newsletter, and we need someone to fill this vacancy when our current Editor steps down at the end of 2024. This role is key in the smooth running of our organisation and your contribution will be invaluable.
