Scope & identify new funding opportunities not in pipeline; to include commercial partnerships, sponsorship and large scale Charity of the Year partnerships. To assist in preparations for applications &/or pitch

What will you be doing?

  • Researching both regional and national corporate funding opportunities arising from COVID-19-associated appeals and grants
  • Increasing scope of eligibility, taking into account development of Sands’ services and product – both strategically and in response to COVID-19
  • Identify long-term and/or large scale funding opportunities not related to COVID-19, specifically within commercial sector and online retailers
  • Work closely with Partnerships & Philanthropy Manager

What are we looking for?

Enthusiasm, thoroughness, positivity and determination at the moment!
Experience of researching funders (or similar research) to add to our pipeline, to support our enthusiastic, welcoming, high-performing team who are under a lot of pressure at the moment. An ability to identify relevant opportunities and think innovatively about how our 3 core charitable aims  (Bereavement Support, Awareness-raising and training health professionals, Research to reduce baby deaths), could be met by different funding opportunities. An ability to liaise effectively with other teams for gathering info and building an evidence base. Ability to work remotely with a new team, with regular contact from team members.

What difference will you make?

By volunteering with us you will be making an enormous difference to the experiences parents have when their baby dies, whether this be excellent bereavement care from a specialist midwife, a lifetime of support from our Bereavement Support Team or contributing to the wide range of research projects we fund to reduce the numbers of babies dying before, during or shortly after birth. Helping us to research funding opportunities in these challenging times will support our team who are working incredibly hard to enable us to continue our work.

What's in it for the volunteer?

We would love to welcome you to our team, who are open, friendly, incredibly supportive and dare I say it, fun! We are learning quickly and effectively how to work remotely and support each other to work as effectively as possible. If you are looking for a move into the voluntary sector after Covid, then this will provide a fantastic insight and experience for you and if not, you will have made a huge difference either way.

Before you apply

We would ask for an initial conversation to ensure a good fit for you too.
