Youthbuilding UK (YBUK) engages with organisations who offer training and jobs to disadvantaged youth, helping them transform their lives. We share best practices with similar groups and celebrate young people's achievements against the odds.
Our challenges include recruiting new sponsors and patrons while maintaining engagement with our growing number of existing supporters.
Like all small charities, we are constrained by limited resources. We do not employ staff and have minimal paid-for support. We rely heavily on voluntary effort and in-kind contributions, and we need to leverage more of these resources.
Recognising that we cannot accomplish everything independently, we are actively exploring collaborations with like-minded organisations to combine our efforts.
Additionally, this year as well as appointing new trustees, we will select a new chair, as our current chair and company secretary is retiring.
We need new trustees with the energy, time, experience and ideas to help shape our future.
Above all else we are looking for passion and commitment to help organisations give young people a chance.
Knowledge of the construction or development industry and of skills and training would be good to have.
Experience in developing networks and ways of collaborative working would be welcomed.
The construction industry is facing a significant skills gap while the government has ambitious plans for increasing the development of homes, buildings, and infrastructure. Yet, there are nearly 1,000,000 young individuals Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEETs).
We invite you to help us in supporting construction organisations, training providers, housing developers, and other third sector organisations in providing "Opportunity Youth" with the chance to build careers in the construction industry.
Your contributions can help us expand our network, enhance collaborative efforts, and increase our positive impact on young people.
If you are interested in joining our board of trustees, please read the role specification and let us have a short note on your background and how you think you can help take us forward.
