Occasional sessions. Approx 6 hours per month at various locations in the West Midlands and occasionally other regions (if available).

We are seeking professionals that wish to share their knowledge, experience and motivation with young people to inspire them to reach their full potential. Sessions are approx 1 per month for 6 hours and typically happen in the day.

What will you be doing?

  • We would like volunteers to learn and understand our 360 degree transformation programme which helps young people from a wide range of backgrounds discover their own strengths and talents.
  • As part of a small delivery team, you will be required to run interactive sessions at workshops, using our materials and resources.
  • Once you're familiar with the sessions, you'll just need to turn up and deliver! The sessions differ depending on the age group, ability-range or theme, but typically will be aimed at raising aspirations, confidence and work readiness.
  • You don't need to be a qualified trainer or coach, but professional experience of delivering similar materials is required. We are looking to add to our bank of brilliant volunteers as demand for our programmes is growing.
  • You will be fully supported and will not be required to prepare your own materials.
  • You can, of course bring your own personal style and stories in to the sessions.
  • Delivery of our Inspiring Young Birmingham workshop

What are we looking for?

  • We would require experienced speakers
  • We are looking for experienced professionals from a wide range of sectors
  • The ideal people will be positive, energetic and motivational. It is important that you can inspire others, particularly as some of our beneficiaries may come from challenging backgrounds.
  • You should be comfortable leading a session, willing to make it fun and interactive and also able to offer one- to-one coaching and advice.
  • You do not need a professional qualification, but you will have training and presentation delivery experience. You should have an empathetic nature and a patient, calm approach, whilst being inspiring and upbeat.

What difference will you make?

Many young people lack support networks and role models. A good coach or mentor can transform a young person's life, just by listening to them. EmployabiltyUK relies on high-quality volunteer support to deliver its programmes and a larger bank of volunteers will mean we can reach more young people.

What's in it for the volunteer?

This is an opportunity to make a real difference to young people. Many people would like to do something, but they're not too sure what. We work with our volunteers to ensure they are placed in roles or sessions that appeal to them and use their strengths and expertise. Our volunteers tell us they get a huge sense of satisfaction working with us because we respect them and appreciate their contribution.
