Devon based environmental charity seeking treasurer to guide the charity's financial performance through an exciting period of growth

What will you be doing?

Moor Trees is seeking a trustee to be appointed as treasurer. The role's responsibilities include:

  1. Liaising with the chief executive and bookkeeper to ensure that proper accounting records are kept, financial resources are properly invested and economically spent
  2. Monitoring the financial administration of the charity and reporting to the board of trustees, in compliance with the governing document inc. presenting annual financial statements to the board of trustees and members
  3. Monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity and advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan
  4. Overseeing the charity’s financial risk-management process, policies and ensuring robust and effective financial controls are in place
  5. Acting as a counter signatory on cheques, online banking and applications to funders
  6. Board-level liaison with the independent examiner on specific issues such as the Auditors’ Management Letter and the related board representations.
  7. In the future it may be agreed that the charity requires a finance or audit and risk committee which would be chaired by the treasurer

What are we looking for?

For the role of treasurer we are seeking someone with a financial background and ideally financial qualifications. While experience of the not for profit sector would be preferred this is not essential. We are also seeking someone who has the qualities of a great charity trustee.

What difference will you make?

The role of Treasurer is so important to us - not only do we need someone to keep us on track financially and keep us viable, but even more significantly, we are looking for someone to help us achieve our vision for the future of trees and native broadleaved woodland on Dartmoor.

Before you apply

To enquire about this role please contact our chair Jenny Issac or chief executive Helen Aldis or complete an application through Reach Volunteering.
