**About Ignite Hubs**

Ignite Hubs is an education charity dedicated to empowering young minds aged 7 to 18. Our mission is to provide children from all backgrounds, including underrepresented groups like girls, SEN children, and those from disadvantaged areas, with skills and experiences to thrive in the future workforce. We teach coding and STEM to over 200 students weekly and have positively impacted over 1,000 young learners.

**Role & Responsibilities**

We are seeking a proactive Midweight Frontend Engineer to help expand and enhance our online platforms. You will collaborate closely with the Lead Engineer and the Head of EdTech, taking ownership of the product while working alongside other volunteers to build an engaging, accessible user experience.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining the frontend of our applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and Next.js.
  • Integrating external APIs and working with backend developers for seamless data flow.
  • Using Figma for wireframes, collaborating on design and usability standards.
  • Participating in Agile/Scrum processes, contributing to project planning and reviews.
  • Engaging with CI/CD processes and using GitHub Actions for automated workflows.

**What You'll Be Building**

You’ll work on a greenfield project to create a portal that will manage our volunteers. This role allows you to influence the platform’s architecture, enhancing our volunteer management and supporting our mission to empower young learners.

What are we looking for?

Skills and Experience Required

  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with React and Next.js
  • Familiarity with Tailwind CSS and Material UI
  • Confident working with external APIs
  • Familiarity with querying databases
  • Proficient in Version Control with Git and GitHub
  • Strong visual design skills, with experience building user-friendly products
  • Experience using Figma for wireframes and collaborating on visual design
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies like Azure and Vercel
  • Understanding of CI/CD processes and experience with GitHub Actions
  • Experience in testing with React Testing Library and Jest
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices (desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and collaborate effectively
  • Experience working with Product Owners and cross-functional teams
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum development processes
