Darlington Assistance for Refugees (DAR) supports Asylum Seekers and Refugees to settle and rebuild their lives in Darlington.  Our mentors provide individual support through their dedication and compassion for helping displaced families.

What will you be doing?

The Mentor Lead manages the delivery of the mentor service to Asylum Seekers (AS) and is responsible for delivering the following overarching objectives:

  • To contribute to the leadership direction of DAR, as a member of the Executive Team
  • To ensure Mentors have sufficient support, training and guidance to carry out their role effectively
  • To manage the mentoring process, ensuring the support provided meets DAR’s objectives, whilst enabling volunteers to feel rewarded and fulfilled.

DAR is currently reviewing this role and we are seeking someone who will help us to redefine the role and implement the changes necessary to effect the new role

What are we looking for?

Essential

  • Previous leadership experience
  • Organised
  • Patient, compassionate, empathetic and takes time to listen
  • Able to produce concise, clear written communications

Desirable

  • Experience of leading volunteers or leadership in a 3rd sector environment

Your support to determine how we should develop the mentor role will have tremendous benefit to both volunteers and service providers, enabling us to deliver our goals of supporting displaced people and facilitating their integration into our community.  At the same time, your leadership of this crucial team will provide support and guidance to volunteers whilst contributing more broadly as a key member of the Charity's Executive Team
