Mentor Mums matches mums returning to work after mat leave with a mentor in the same profession, to help them transition back to work with confidence. All our mentors need to be working parents, and are matched based on industry.

What will you be doing?

Returning to work after having a child can feel huge: our jobs may have stayed the same but everything else about life feels different! Our Mentors support returners to feel confident and supported as they return, giving them advice or acting as a sounding board on everything from weaning or sleeptraining through to line management or promotion.

The commitment:

We ask mentors to commit to six hours (plus half hour onboarding call) over six months. This can be done face-to-face or remotely. Mentors will support mentees by listening, asking guiding questions and sharing their own lived experience as a working parent.

What are we looking for?

Lived experience as a working parent
3 or more years in their profession

What difference will you make?

Our mentors tell us they sign up because they wish they'd had this support when they returned. And for those they help, the difference is incredible. People tell us we've helped them overcome mental health issues, have difficult conversations in the workplace, negotiate contract changes or promotions, and even change jobs.

The rewards of mentoring come not only from knowing you've helped keep someone else's career on track, but also in having to think outside the box as you guide someone else through various challenges. Mentors tell us this helps them grow and develop too.
