Join our team as a dedicated Mentor for Young Women aspiring to enter the fields of STEM. Empower future leaders, close the digital skills gap, share your expertise, and make a lasting impact.

What will you be doing?

As a volunteer Mentor for young Women in STEM Careers, your primary role is to provide personalised guidance and support to young women interested in pursuing STEM fields. You will offer advice, share experiences, and assist them in navigating their career paths STEM.

You will help to deliver our 12 weeks #BeMedigitalinclusion mentoring program to young women to help raise aspirations, develop key skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to succeed in STEM careers. Mentoring sessions will comprise 1-hour online sessions with small groups via Google meets or Zoom. Mentors will collaborate closely with Program coordinators, teachers’, other mentors, and the mentees themselves to ensure a supportive and enriching mentoring experience. Training and resources (mentoring presentations) will be provided.

What are we looking for?

  • Strong background in a STEM-related field such as computer science, engineering, or information technology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organisational skills.
  • Empathy and patience.
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching individuals, particularly young women, in educational or professional settings.
  • Knowledge of the STEM industry landscape.
  • Familiarity with mentorship best practices and strategies.
  • Ability to adapt mentoring approaches to meet the needs of diverse mentees.
  • Empathy and patience.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM fields.
  • Possession of a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or willingness to undergo the process.
