Our Marketing Trustee fulfills an invaluable role in guiding Open Country through the implementation of our integrated marketing and communications strategy, helping us expand our charity's Reach and Voice.
You will participate in the work of the Open Country Board of Trustees in developing and monitoring the strategic direction and good governance of Open Country. The Board currently has nine dedicated members.
You will advise the charity on developing a coherent marketing and communications strategy in support of our overarching five-year strategy.
Your role would require attending up to six evening Board meetings a year, plus up to five meetings of our Fundraising & Marketing Sub-Committee, which you would chair. The charity employs one full-time Communications Officer.
The applicant should have a professional marketing qualification or equivalent experience in developing and implementing a marketing strategy.
We are a hands-on, can-do charity that likes to get things done in a spirit of cooperation and teamwork.
An understanding of the charity sector would be useful, but training will be given in both this and the role of a trustee.
An understanding of the challenges that people with physical, sensory and mental disabilities face would be a significant benefit to the board.
A personal commitment to enjoying the countryside and therefore wishing others to have the same opportunities is really desirable.
In our 35th anniversary year, you will help our growing charity to enable even more people with disabilities to access and enjoy the countryside, by helping to sustainably expand both our Reach and Voice.
We are entering the final year of our current five-year business plan cycle and, with both the pending opening of our third operational Hub, and the pressing concerns of the economic downturn, the need for clear communications and marketing has never been more vital.
Please apply through REACH in the first instance, detailing why you are interested in the role and your relevant experience. We then interview shortlisted candidates, send them an application form and invite them to attend a trustee board meeting to satisfy both parties about progressing. This is followed by the taking up of two references. Successful candidates are formally co-opted at the next Board meeting.
