Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We're looking for experienced volunteers to join our marketing team and play a pivotal role in the life of York’s historic, community powered theatre that's been inspiring audiences since 1935.

What will you be doing?

We’re looking for volunteers to join our theatre marketing team. Some experience in marketing is required or in a related field. Each team member takes on a different area of responsibility - from social media, website, and copywriting to email marketing, data analysis, show brochure production and photography management. You will be encouraged to share ideas and take on projects, working with volunteers in other parts of the theatre, such as the fundraising and box office teams.

We meet online once a week to review activities and plan for the week ahead, and in-person once a quarter. The weekly time commitment is about two hours, working as part of an enthusiastic, fun team and playing a pivotal role in the life of our lovely community theatre.

What are we looking for?

Must have some marketing or related experience. This should include content creation and copywriting across different media. Experience in digital marketing is desirable. Volunteers need to be able to work individually and report back at the weekly meetings. They will also be expected to contribute ideas and take on projects. Being comfortable with online tools and platforms, such as Dot Digital, Canva and similar, would be an advantage. Although mainly home-based, volunteers will need to visit the theatre from time and time and liaise with the hirers. It is a role that requires a degree of self-discipline and commitment, but one that is also hugely rewarding, and fun!

What difference will you make?

Your role will be central to the success of the theatre, working with other team members to support the theatre's mission and the organisations that hire our venue.

Before you apply

When applying for the role, as well as a CV, please provide details of why you are interested and your relevant experience. Applicants who fit our criteria may be invited for an informal chat.
