What will you be doing?
As Marketing Head for the Surrey Poet Laureateship, you will lead our strategy to grow visibility, drive engagement, and strengthen our reputation as a vibrant, creative force across Surrey and beyond.
Working closely with the leadership team, Social Media Manager, and Content Creators, you’ll take ownership of how the Laureateship is presented to the public—ensuring our message, impact, and events are seen, heard, and celebrated widely.
From campaign planning to audience development, your role will be both strategic and hands-on, ensuring our marketing is consistent, inclusive, and aligned with our values.
Key responsibilities include:
You’ll shape how people discover and engage with us—and make sure our story is told powerfully and professionally.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone creative, strategic, and passionate about using communication to spark connection, curiosity, and community engagement. You don’t need to be a marketing professional—we welcome individuals with transferable skills and a genuine interest in the arts and outreach.
Essential skills and qualities:
We ask that applicants are able to reliably commute to our HQ at the Literary Institute building in Egham for key meetings and team planning sessions, although much of the role can be carried out remotely.
We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds who are passionate about making creative voices heard and helping the Laureateship thrive.
What difference will you make?
As Marketing Head, you’ll play a defining role in shaping the public identity of the Surrey Poet Laureateship. Your work will ensure that the voices we uplift, through poetry, events, and outreach, are not only heard but celebrated across communities.
By leading our marketing and communications strategy, you’ll expand our reach, attract new audiences, and bring greater recognition to the work we do with schools, councils, artists, and underrepresented communities. You’ll also empower our volunteers and creatives by giving their efforts the spotlight they deserve.
Your contribution will make poetry more visible, accessible, and influential in Surrey—and help ensure this historic Laureateship continues to grow in impact and reputation.
