Tuesday evening Trustee meets 6 times per year, most held remotely. 1-2 evening visits to rehearsals per year. Rest by email and phone to suit self.

The Marketing Director ensures that the work and philosophy of the Chorus reaches external audiences and organisations effectively, appealing to people who are looking to join a great Chorus, buy concert tickets or hire us.

What will you be doing?

The Marketing Director ensures that the work and philosophy of the Chorus is published to external audiences and organisations effectively. The aim of our marketing activity is to help maximise sales for events by publicising our work widely and bringing us to the attention of people who might join, buy tickets or engage us.

Their main tasks are to:

  • Manage the brand strategy and ensure guidelines are published
  • Manage a team to create flyers, programmes, website pages, posters etc
  • Publicise ad hoc and official recordings of music and commissions
  • Manage team who distribute press releases to various media including print and broadcast
  • Work with Web manager to maintain and develop the Website, covering design and changes
  • Commission and publish blogs and general output from other Chorus members
  • Work with team to analyse sales and social media statistics
  • Engage photographers for events
  • Manage team engaging with press and other media
  • Commission and publish video content like HCTV
  • Create or commission digital assets such as video and audio clips for social media (including You Tube) and web site

What are we looking for?

Experience in a marketing role would be a distinct advantage. We would like our Marketing Director to be able to fit in with our volunteer team of Trustees, be able to help us to keep consistent with our brand, be able to coach volunteers to be the best they can be at press relations, web design, social media and digital assets. Ideally you would have experience and a keen interest in performing arts.

What difference will you make?

Our charitable aim is to educate and bring high quality music to audiences and our singers. We have a strong interest in innovative programming; commissioning new work and involving young people in our concerts. Commissioning supports music creators without whom we would have almost no new music, innovation brings little-known works alongside popular music thereby expanding audience's musical knowledge - and without enabling young people to experience the joys of singing in a large choir in amazing spaces (such as St Albans Cathedral) we would not have a thriving UK choral scene in future years..
