Sported members change the lives of people in their communities using the power of sport and physical activity. As a Sported volunteer you will use your professional skills and knowledge to help these organisations survive and thrive.
Varied and flexible placements
We have a range of volunteering opportunities available across the UK. These can be one-off phone calls or emails, 2-6 hours of support in person or remotely, or working long term with a group over 3-9 months (around 4-8 hours a month, predominantly face-to-face).
As a Sported volunteer you can choose to deliver either short or long-term support or a combination as suits you.
Why volunteer with Sported?
The tasks and assignments you are asked to undertake will be based on your skills and expertise and will differ depending on whether it is a short-term or long-term placement.
If you have experience in any of the following skills areas, or another similar skill, and would be confident to share your knowledge to mentor or advise a Sported member we look forward to hearing from you:
Sported members are run by an incredible group of passionate and dedicated people. These club leaders and volunteers are brilliant role models, skilled coaches and do some amazing work in their communities. Where they often lack support or simply the time, is on the organisation’s development, so things such as business planning, financial management or governance. These often get overlooked, but are fundamental for the organisation’s long-term sustainability. It’s here where our you can make a difference. As a direct result of the work of our volunteers, our members have collectively gone onto secure millions of pounds of external funding and have created life enhancing opportunities for thousands of young people from some of the UK’s most disadvantaged communities.
As a Sported volunteer you will get the chance to apply your professional skills and experience to help our members overcome their operational challenges and become better equipped for the future. In doing so, you will meet the inspirational faces of community sports, immerse yourself in their work and develop new skills in the process. Our volunteers report a range of benefits from their volunteering including meeting people from different communities, satisfaction from being able to pass on skills and develop individuals as well as their organisations, and opportunities to learn more about community organisations and make a positive contribution to their future.
