Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

What will you be doing?

*Due to the role responsibilities, it is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the post holder is female, permitted under Schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

Luminary is an innovative response to a need we saw for women who have had a social and economic disadvantage. We are a social enterprise designed to offer opportunities for women to build a future for themselves. We provide a safe and professional environment where women can grow holistically encouraging ambition, restoration and second chances. We use baking as a tool to take women on a journey to employability and entrepreneurship, equipping them with transferable skills for the working world.

Luminary Limited’s Trustee Board comprises:

the Chair;

the Treasurer; and

A minimum of three appointed Trustees (no maximum number of Trustees is specified in Luminary Limited’s Articles of Association).

This role is aimed to help with the strategy of the Charity and works in conjunction with the directives of the Luminary Limited Trustees.

To ensure that the Board receives appropriate budgetary and financial information on the activities of the charity including Annual Accounts;

To ensure that all accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies;

To recommend to the Board appropriate accounting procedures, controls and policies consistent with the scheme of delegation;

To oversee the appointment of auditors and review on a regular basis; and

To work in close partnership with the CEO on executing their responsibilities and achieving their goals.

*This is a voluntary role, however reasonable expenses will be paid

What are we looking for?

Necessary:

  • Strong financial management experience senior level, including developing and managing budgets, and financial reporting
  • Ability to commit for a minimum three year tenure;
  • Supportive of Luminary Faith Policy and organisational values. 

Desirable

Following an audit of the current skills & expertise on the board, Luminary are seeking Trustees with experience in the following areas:

  • Accounting qualification (such as ACA/ACCA/CIMA, AAT);
  • Experience serving as a charity trustee or member of another governance board;
  • Ideally have experience in a financial role within a charity

We work in collaboration with the Board of Directors of the business, Luminary Bakery Limited, who oversee the governance of the business & all commercial operations.
